This hack is pretty cool if you want to get more engagement on your Facebook Business page as well as gain some organic followers. When I first heard about it, I was a bit sceptical but I decided to give it a go. And sure enough, within a few days I got over 156 new genuine Facebook page likes as well as over 700 post likes.
Usually, I get about 5-10 new followers a week… so that’s been a pretty impressive result for me. Needless to say, I got pretty excited and wanted to share it with you straight away!
There is a small downside to it though – you have to spend some money on Facebook ads to get the ball rolling. However, it won’t be more than £1-£2 (less than your Starbucks coffee) and we won’t spend the money in the way you’re expecting us to!
You and I are going to trick Facebook slightly. So in a way, we’ll get twice as much value from it as you usually would. Curious? Well, I can’t wait to tell you all about it!
Share Your Content
Ok, so the first step is to share an engaging post on your Facebook page. Ideally, it’s something you would usually share anyway – so it should be part of your content strategy. It could be a few images and a link to your new blog post if you’re a blogger, or it could be a video or maybe even something you’re selling? Just remember that pictures and videos grab people’s attention more than anything else. Also, don’t forget to do the virality check: ask yourself whether you would click, comment or share the content if you came across it yourself for the first time.
Boost the Post
Now that you’ve shared your exciting content it’s time for the next step. You need to click the Boost post button – that’s the step where you have to spend some moneys… 😛
Personally, I’ve paid £2 for 1-day promotion and I was pretty happy with the results. I think £1 is the Facebook minimum, but you’ll obviously achieve better results the more money you spend… ah Facebook…
For this particular step, your targeting is extremely important and will make a big impact on the performance of this hack. But don’t worry – because I really want to make it as easy as possible for you, I’ve prepared a free Effective Facebook Targeting Guide which you can download at the bottom of this post.
Turn “Likers” into Followers
This is the clever part of the hack. That’s how we’re going to get twice as much value from our boost than usually, so pay close attention.
Below your post you can see everyone who has engaged with your content during the boost. Click on it and you’ll get a list of people with an “Invite” button next to them. Now all you need to do is to invite the people who have liked your post. Super easy!
I think there is a limit of 500 invitations to be sent out. In my case, one post got over 700 likes so I had to wait for a day or so until I could invite the rest of the people. At the end of my first post boost I had over 150 new Facebook followers. And the best part of it is that they are genuinely interested in my content – not only have they engaged with my boosted post in the first place, but they’ve also liked lots of my old and new content! Awesomeness!
Keep ’em Engaged
Here is a little bonus for you. Facebook algorithm is a clever thing… You probably already know that it only shows “organic” content that is interesting and relevant to your followers. So how does Facebook know what’s relevant? Well, if your followers repeatedly engage with your page’s posts, then they must really like its content and Facebook will show them more of your stuff.
And here is the thing: now that you’ve boosted your post and got a lot of engagement you need to CAPITALISE on it! Don’t let your new followers forget about you! Post at least once a day and make sure the content is fun and engaging. For example, you could share a picture (like you do on Instagram) or write a funny quote if you run out of ideas about what to post. You could also repost an old picture from your previous blog posts – that’s a great trick to recycle your content and get some extra traffic to your blog.
That, my friends, is the long-term strategy to an ever-growing and super engaged Facebook following!
Now that you know how to turn “likes” into active new followers I’m going to share with you how to effectively get those likes in the first place. The result of your boost will depend largely on your targeting and on the boost settings you’ll choose. I’ve been experimenting a lot with the Facebook promotion over the last couple of months and have put together a Guide For Effective Facebook Targeting with some practical examples. PLUS, I’ve included another present for you, which is “10 FREE ways to increase your Facebook page likes”.
